Catalina Foothills School District’s commitment to 21st Century Learning continues after school with Community Schools’ elementary programs. Afterschool enrichment opportunities include special activities and classes for students on early release days. Afterschool classes and camps extend into the later afternoon hours to broaden lifelong learning options for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Special programs through Community Schools serve as avenues for learning new skills and experiencing meaningful activities during school vacations and weekends.

Quarter 4 Enrollment opens Friday, March 8 at 8:30am.

Early Release Tuesdays

Art Naturally: Claws and Paws      Grades: K-2       Fee:$229

Explore the exciting world of animal art! This session will incorporate elements of storytelling and conservation, while understanding the natural world and the importance of
protecting and preserving it. Students will be encouraged to express their own unique ideas while developing their artistic skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Chess Club   Begins April 2     Grades: K-5  ends at 2:35pm     Fee: $91

No prior experience is needed. Chess has been proven to enhance academic achievement and is a skill that will last a lifetime. Instructor, Ken Larsen, is a competitive chess player and instructor.

Crazy Critters   Grades: K-5    Fee: $149      

Join our exciting after-school program where every week brings a new adventure with a diverse lineup of animals, from capybaras and porcupines to turtles and more! Your child will explore the animal kingdom through engaging activities, informative lessons, and hands-on interactions in a fun and educational environment

Jewelry Making with Ms. Nona    Grades: 2-5    Fee: $149

Discover how fun and easy jewelry making can be! You will make your own unique, handmade jewelry using a wide variety of materials. The options are endless!!!

PlayWell: Pokemon Engineering   Grades: K-5     Fee:$206

Calling all Pokémon trainers! With the Pokémon Championship approaching, join our enthusiastic Play-Well Instructors as we build and catch our favorite Pokémon,
rescue Pikachu from Team Rocket, take a ride on the S.S. Anne to uncover rare and mystic Pokémon, and battle to see who will hold the title of Pokémon Master.

Rockin' Rockets    Grades: 2-5    Fee: $257

Rocketry returns! Join Mr. Bob from Why Things Fly as he guides you to new heights with an iconic Estes model rocket, crafted and launched by your own hands.

TGA Golf    Grades:K-2 / 3-5      Fee: $234

Tee it up with Teach, Grow, Achieve (TGA), a national after-school sports enrichment program. TGA's five-level program brings the golf course to you. Have fun learning the techniques of golf! Great for beginners as well as experienced golfers.

TGA Tennis    Grades: K-2 / 3-5    Fee: $234

Serve it up and discover how fun and exciting tennis can be with TGA! Coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop the fundamental skills of grip, forehand, backhand, volley and serve.

MONDAY

KidStage presents:  WONKA!    Grades: 2-5      Fee: $180

Mr. Willy Wonka is the greatest chocolate maker the world has ever seen! He has invited 5 kids to come and tour his factory! Among them is the gluttonous Augustus Gloop, the gum chewing Violet Beauregard, the severely nasty Veruca Salt and a non-stop TV watching boy named Mike Teevee. The final child to find a golden ticket and win a tour of the factory is the kind-hearted Charlie Bucket! Come along on this hilarious journey complete with Oompa Loompas, Giant Squirrels and lots of "chocolate factory" technology.

Code Ninjas: 3D Design and Print     Grades: 3-5   Fee: $286

Students will explore 3D modeling and printing using Tinkercad. They will code their own custom models, including working bubble wands, keychains, and more! Along the
way, they will learn tips, techniques, and best practices for exciting explorations in 3D modeling and printing.

Young Rembrandts: Elementary and Cartoon Drawing    Grades: K-3   Fee: $

This spring, Young Rembrandts artists are in for a treat with a lineup of ALL NEW drawing lessons. From a vibrant pop art dog to fascinating art history and a powerful
unicorn, there's so much to learn and love. We prioritize proper technique and excellent color selection in every lesson. Your child will not only enhance their skills but also have a blast personalizing cool drawings like soccer players, and robots. WEDNESDAY

Ceramics     Grades: 3-5     Fee: $246

Embark on a journey into the world of pottery where each day brings a new adventure in sculpting, crafting, and firing clay. From honing fine motor skills to igniting imaginations, students will delve into a variety of projects. Join us at the end for an Art Walk showcasing the creativity of our students!

Cooking with Mrs. Jean    Grades: 3-5    Fee: $120

In this class, students take a more hands-on approach investigating what ingredients to use and why! We will learn new cooking techniques and how to use new measuring instruments while learning basic math techniques and building broader language skills in cuisine. Of course, while always being safe in the kitchen! This class will focus on all new recipes from savory to sweet!

Webby Dance: Dance/Gymnastics / Yoga   Grades: K-5   Fee: $236

This quarter, with Webby Dance, we will introduce each child to the fundamentals of dance, gymnastics & yoga! Explore a new theme each week, our combination classes offer a wide variety of skills. End of quarter performance will be held for families!

THURSDAY

Capoeira Mandinga: Afro-Brazilian Martial Arts     Grades: 1-5      Fee: $169

Learn the flowing, beautiful Afro-Brazilian Martial Art Capoeira with Capoeira Mandinga Tucson. Students will learn kicks, escapes, and fluid moves that build mind and body strength, flexibility, and agility. Students also learn music that drives the energy of the Capoeira game. Capoeira increases balance, creativity, and confidence. Teachers Anne Pollack and Aidan Miller-Wells were honored with a 2019 Southwest Folklife Alliance Award. Aidan has trained in capoeira over 12 years. Anne is the only master of Capoeira and Afro-Brazilian arts in the State of Arizona.

Cooking with Ms. Jean.   Grades: K-2    Fee: $120

Learn new cooking techniques and new recipes from savory to sweet! Build your language skills in cuisine and kitchen safety!

Works by Watson: Robot Clash 2   Grades: 3-5    Fee: $274

Throughout the program, students will have the opportunity to unleash their creativity by designing and building unique robot prototypes. With hands-on guidance, participants will learn the intricacies of constructing robot structures and customizing mechanical actions. A highlight of the course is the thrilling robot battles, where students can put their creations to the test and see which designs wins!

CS Outdoors Hiking Club   April 11, 18, 25     Grades: 3-5    Fee: $50

Come discover the beauty of our unique and curious Arizona environment. Learn outdoor skills that you can utilize at any level! We will discuss Leave No Trace principles, the hiking 10 essentials, outdoor etiquette and more. We will finish our short session with a hike on a local trail to experience the outdoors with our new knowledge.

FRIDAY

Soccer Shots     Grades: K-2 & 3-5     Fee: $229

Soccer Shots is an engaging program helping children on and off the soccer field learning character development skills along with the fundamentals of the game. Enjoy games and scrimmages to end each class!

COMMUNITY SCHOOLS POLICIES

NSF checks: A $25 bank processing fee will be assesed for any returned checks.

Elementary Policies

Late Registration Fee Policy: There will be a $15 late registration fee for any registration received after the registration deadline.

  • If you register the day that classes start, your student will not be able to attend class until the following week.
  • If you register the week that classes begin, contact your Community Schools Program Coordinator at your school to confirm your registration.


Wait Lists: If a class you wanted to register for is FULL, please make sure you add the “Waitlist” class to your cart to ensure you are contacted if a spot becomes available. All waiting list requests are dated, time-stamped, and entered accordingly.

Refund Refunds/Changes:
When dropping out of activities after the first class, you will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be given after the 2nd day of class. There will be a $10 change fee for any class changes. No refunds if we remove your student from a class.

Procedure for Removing a Child from the Program: Our Community Schools philosophy is to provide children with safe, optimum learning opportunities. Our expectations for behavior are based on appropriate developmental levels and, when necessary, may culminate in removal of a student from a program.

Sign-Out Policy: To ensure the safety of the children in our program, it is mandatory that children be picked up in their classrooms and signed out by a parent following Community Schools classes. Exceptions: Children returning to CARE or going to another Community Schools class. A late pick-up fee of $2.00 per minute will be assessed for any student who is not picked up within five minutes after the end of their class.

Fees for Classes, Athletics, Outdoor Adventures and Field Trips

All fees are due at the time of enrollment, prior to the start of the program. Contact Community Schools for information on payment plans or fee reductions. Fee reductions may be available based on combined family income.
