Catalina Foothills School District’s commitment to 21st Century Learning continues after school with Community Schools’ elementary programs. Afterschool enrichment opportunities include special activities and classes for students on early release days. Afterschool classes and camps extend into the later afternoon hours to broaden lifelong learning options for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Special programs through Community Schools serve as avenues for learning new skills and experiencing meaningful activities during school vacations and weekends.
Enrichment Classes Quarter 2
Early Release Mondays
Chess - 1:30-2:35pm* Fee: $66
Grades K-5
Open to all ability levels, no prior experience necessary. Students build strategy and play games. Opportunities for optional weekend tournaments. Ken Larsen, an instructor for over 30 years and a competitive chess player, has led CFSD students to victories at local, state and national tournaments. *Note ending time
Cooking with Ms. Jean Fee: $119
Grades: K-2
In this class, students take a more hands-on approach investigating what ingredients to use and why! We will learn new cooking techniques and how to use new measuring instruments while learning basic math techniques and building broader language skills in cuisine. Of course, while always being safe in the kitchen! This class will focus on unique foods worldwide, from Asia, South America, and Europe.
Fun with Flight Fee: $189
Grades: 2-5
Fun with Flight is soaring back into action! Join Mr. Bob for an exhilarating dive into the world of aviation. Students will explore the fundamentals of flight while engaging in hands-on activities, building and operating exciting flying objects like kites, propellers, air-rockets, and gliders—many of which they’ll get to take home! This dynamic program is sure to inspire students to continue their flight experiments and projects at home. Get ready for an adventure that will lift your imagination to new heights!
Minecraft Engineering with Playwell Lego Fee: $159
Grades K-5
Step into the world of Minecraft like never before with our exclusive LEGO® adventure! Build your base, craft your tools, and use your Mine cart to gather raw resources as you gear up for an epic battle against the Ender Dragon. With guidance from a skilled Play-Well instructor, you'll unlock endless possibilities and immerse yourself in a hands-on, creative LEGO® experience. Join us for a quest filled with imagination and excitement!
TGA Cheerleading Fee: $205
Grades: K-5
Unleash the excitement of cheerleading! Join TGA's energetic coaches as they guide students through thrilling drills and fun activities to master tumbling, stunting, choreography, jumps, and sharp motions. But that's not all! Students will dive into interactive labs to discover the science behind cheerleading—exploring gravity, balance, and aerodynamics. It’s a high-energy experience where athleticism meets discovery! Game scheduled for Saturday, December 14 at CFHS!
TGA Flag Football Fee: $205

Kick off the fun with Teach, Grow, Achieve (TGA) and experience the thrill of this exciting, modified version of America’s favorite game—flag football! With action-packed drills and games, you’ll build skills, sharpen your moves, and enjoy the rush of competition. To top it all off, gear up for an epic showdown at the end of the quarter, where you’ll compete against other elementary schools in an unforgettable game day experience! Game scheduled for Saturday, December 14 at CFHS! More details to come.

Buddy Ball Tennis Fee: $316
Grades K-2
Serve it up and discover how fun and exciting tennis can be with Buddy Ball! Coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop the fundamental skills of grip, forehand, backhand, volley and serve.
Cooking with Ms. Jean Fee: $152
Grades: K-5
Students will learn to use fun kitchen gadgets like an instant pot, waffle iron, indoor grill and air fryer to create creatively delicious food! They will then add their newly learned recipes to cookbooks so they can show off their new skills at home.
Works by Watson: Electronic Techs Fee: $274
Grades 2-5
Join our Electronic Tech class and spark your curiosity about electricity! Dive into the basics of electrical science and progress to hands-on projects with 1:1 guidance. You'll even get to solder your own electronic kit and take it home at the end of the class. Perfect for students who love electronics, hands-on building, and creating something unique. Get ready for a fun and educational journey into the world of tech!

Dance/Gym/Yoga with Webby Dance Fee: $236
Grades K-5
In this exciting combo class, students will master the fundamentals of both dance and gymnastics, blending strength, technique, and creativity. Dive into dynamic choreography and dance combinations across jazz, hip hop, and ballet, while also perfecting tumbling, floor routines, and obstacle courses. Strengthen your skills, build a solid foundation, and explore the best of both worlds in this energetic and engaging program! All WEBBY participants are invited to perform in our winter showcase at the end of the quarter!
Ninja Games With AZ Sports Specialists Fee: $175

AZ Sports Specialists offers dynamic, skill-based programs where students not only develop essential athletic abilities but also learn key social values like teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship. One of our most thrilling classes, Ninja Games, combines physical challenge with mental strategy in an action-packed obstacle course. Participants race through a series of carefully designed obstacles that test agility, strength, coordination, and problem-solving skills. This high-energy class boosts balance and overall fitness, all while providing a fun, supportive environment for kids to push their limits and build confidence.
Yearbook Club with Ms. Anna McNamara Fee: $116

Are you passionate about storytelling and preserving memories? Join the Yearbook Club and become part of a creative team dedicated to capturing the unforgettable moments of our school community. Crayola Artist Passport Fee: $263

Students get set for an exciting around-the-world cultural adventure! W will journey through diverse regions, from the Americas to Polynesia, exploring both bustling cities and serene countryside. Using Crayola products, students will experiment with art techniques inspired by local artists and artisans. Each week, students will create unique masterpieces, including drums, masks, canvases, prints, and more, bringing a taste of global creativity right to their hands. TGA Pickleball Fee: $230

Superstars on Stage With Drama Kids Fee: $130

Basketball With Beginners Edge Sports Fee: $238

Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your game, we’ll boost your abilities in ball handling, dribbling, defense, jumping, passing, shooting, and mastering the triple threat position. Our dynamic program is designed to be energetic and engaging, ensuring your young players stay active and motivated. With personalized instruction and encouragement, we'll help them advance their skills and love for the game, no matter their starting level.
Gardening With Ms. Jean. Fee: $169
Grades K-5
Join our fun and interactive gardening class designed specially for kids! In this class, students will learn the basics of gardening, from planting seeds to caring for plants. They will explore the magical world of nature, discover the importance of sustainable practices, and get hands-on experience in creating their own mini garden. Through engaging activities and games, kids will develop a deeper appreciation for the environment and learn valuable skills that will stay with them for a lifetime. Whether your child is a budding gardener or just curious about the natural world, this class is the perfect opportunity for them to cultivate a love for gardening and nurture their green thumb!
Rockin’ Rockets Fee: $283

3-2-1, LIFT OFF! Get ready to ignite your passion for model rocketry with Mr. Bob from Why Things Fly. In this thrilling program, students will build and launch a variety of rockets, including the iconic "Estes Rocket," powered by real accelerant engines. Watch in awe as your rockets soar over 500 feet into the sky and can be launched again and again. It's the perfect blend of hands-on learning and high-flying fun—an unforgettable educational adventure you won't want to miss!
COMMUNITY SCHOOLS POLICIES
NSF checks: A $25 bank processing fee will be assesed for any returned checks.
Elementary Policies
Late Registration Fee Policy: There will be a $15 late registration fee for any registration received after the registration deadline.
- If you register the day that classes start, your student will not be able to attend class until the following week.
- If you register the week that classes begin, contact your Community Schools Program Coordinator at your school to confirm your registration.
Wait Lists: If a class you wanted to register for is FULL, please make sure you add the “Waitlist” class to your cart to ensure you are contacted if a spot becomes available. All waiting list requests are dated, time-stamped, and entered accordingly.
Refund Refunds/Changes:
When dropping out of activities after the first class, you will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be given after the 2nd day of class. There will be a $10 change fee for any class changes. No refunds if we remove your student from a class.
Procedure for Removing a Child from the Program: Our Community Schools philosophy is to provide children with safe, optimum learning opportunities. Our expectations for behavior are based on appropriate developmental levels and, when necessary, may culminate in removal of a student from a program.
DISCIPLINE POLICY: Community Schools adheres to the CFSD Student Discipline Matrix. Community Schools reserves the right to exclude a student from a Community Schools activity if it is established that the student has violated any provision outlined in the student discipline policies, rules, and/or regulations. Additionally, Community Schools staff may exercise discretion in removing a student if such action is deemed to be in the best interest of the activity or the school as a whole.
Sign-Out Policy: To ensure the safety of the children in our program, it is mandatory that children be picked up in their classrooms and signed out by a parent following Community Schools classes. Exceptions: Children returning to CARE or going to another Community Schools class. A late pick-up fee of $2.00 per minute will be assessed for any student who is not picked up within five minutes after the end of their class.
Fees for Classes, Athletics, Outdoor Adventures and Field Trips
All fees are due at the time of enrollment, prior to the start of the program. Contact Community Schools for information on payment plans or fee reductions. Fee reductions may be available based on combined family income.
