Catalina Foothills School District’s commitment to 21st Century Learning continues after school with Community Schools’ elementary programs. Afterschool enrichment opportunities include special activities and classes for students on early release days. Afterschool classes and camps extend into the later afternoon hours to broaden lifelong learning options for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Special programs through Community Schools serve as avenues for learning new skills and experiencing meaningful activities during school vacations and weekends.

Early Release Mondays
Animal Friends by TRAK Fee: $130
Grades K-5
How far can a rabbit hop? Why do pigs roll in the mud? How can you tell if a horse is happy? Explore the fascinating world of animals and uncover the answers to these questions and more in our Animal Friends hands-on program! Students will discover everything from animal diets and care to unique behaviors and fun facts. The TRAK Animal Family loves visiting schools and bringing this interactive, educational experience to life. Join us for a memorable adventure full of learning and furry friends!
Chess - 1:30-2:35pm* Fee: $66
Grades K-5
Open to all ability levels, no prior experience necessary. Students build strategy and play games. Opportunities for optional weekend tournaments. Ken Larsen, an instructor for over 30 years and a competitive chess player, has led CFSD students to victories at local, state and national tournaments. *Note ending time
Cooking with Ms. Jean Fee: $119

Crayola - Legends and Lore Fee: $225

From the mysterious sea creatures of the deep to the majestic phoenixes of the sky, every society has its legends and lore. Together, we’ll bring these stories to life through paintings, sculptures, and other creative projects. These tales may spark awe, curiosity, or surprise—but most of all, they’ll ignite your imagination!
Fun with Flight: Up, Up and Away! Fee: $189

This quarter, we are soaring to new heights with an emphasis on creating your very own hot air balloons and kites! Weather permitting, we will launch Mr. Bob’s spectacular giant kite show and even his famous Big Bertha rocket. Get ready for a funtabulous, high-flying adventure!
TGA Golf Fee: $197

Tee it up with Teach, Grow, Achieve (TGA), the premier after-school sports enrichment program! Whether you're a beginner or an experienced golfer, TGA’s fun, five-level program brings the excitement of the golf course right to you. Learn the skills and techniques of golf while enjoying interactive lessons and games. Perfect for building confidence and having a blast!

Soccer Shots offers an engaging and dynamic soccer experience that goes beyond the basics. Our program emphasizes character development while teaching essential game fundamentals. Our enthusiastic coaches will guide students through action-packed, station-based drills and games designed to develop essential tennis skills—grip, forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. Inside Out Theatre: Introduction to Theatre Fee: $169
Grades K-5
Inside OUT Theatre is a dynamic, hands-on class where students dive into every aspect of theater production, from backstage to center stage. Together, we will create a full theatrical show from the ground up, sparking creativity and teamwork. Young actors will bring their imaginations to life through set design, character development, lighting, sound, and prop making. Once everything is ready, it’s showtime!
TGA Basketball Fee: $296

Join TGA for an exciting after-school basketball program where students of all skill levels can improve their game while having fun! Our experienced coaches use engaging drills, games, and scrimmages to teach essential basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense. Beyond the court, students will also develop important life skills like teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence in a supportive and active environment. Whether your child is new to basketball or looking to sharpen their skills, TGA’s program is designed to inspire a love for the game.
Yearbook Club with Ms. Anna McNamara Fee: $169

Are you passionate about storytelling and preserving memories? Join the Yearbook Club and become part of a creative team dedicated to capturing the unforgettable moments of our school community. In this hands-on experience, you'll dive into photography, graphic design, and project management as we work together to produce a visually stunning yearbook that tells our story. Pokemon Engineering with PalyWell Fee: $211
Grades K-2
Calling all Pokémon Trainers! The Pokémon Championship is near, and our Play-Well instructors are ready to take you on an epic adventure. Build and catch your favorite Pokémon, help rescue Pikachu from Team Rocket, set sail on the S.S. Anne to discover rare and mythical Pokémon, and compete to see who will claim the title of Pokémon Master. Join us on this exciting journey to catch 'em all!
TGA Volleyball Fee: $263

Serve up the excitement with Teach, Grow, Achieve (TGA) volleyball! Coaches will guide students through high-energy, station-based drills and games, building essential skills like passing, setting, serving, spiking, and blocking. Whether you're a beginner or looking to level up your game, you'll experience the thrill and fun of volleyball in every class!
FRIDAY
Slime With Ms. Jean. Fee: $152
Grades K-2
In this fun and exciting class, students will have the opportunity to unleash their creativity by making slime and other cool crafts. From fluffy slime to glittery creations, this class will explore different techniques and materials to create unique and colorful projects. Students will learn about the science behind slime-making and engage in hands-on activities to make their own personalized crafts. Get ready to experiment, get messy, and let your imagination run wild in this entertaining class where creativity knows no bounds!
Clay with Tanya Fee: $250
Grades: 3-5
Come play with fireable clay and ignite your creativity! Each class offers a new and exciting lesson! We will enhance fine motor skills and stretch our imaginations by crafting everything from whimsical sculptures to functional dishware. Plus, students will have the opportunity to glaze, fire their creations, and showcase their masterpieces in a special family art show on the final day of class. Join us for a fun-filled, artistic adventure!
COMMUNITY SCHOOLS POLICIES
NSF checks: A $25 bank processing fee will be assesed for any returned checks.
Elementary Policies
Late Registration Fee Policy: There will be a $15 late registration fee for any registration received after the registration deadline.
- If you register the day that classes start, your student will not be able to attend class until the following week.
- If you register the week that classes begin, contact your Community Schools Program Coordinator at your school to confirm your registration.
Wait Lists: If a class you wanted to register for is FULL, please make sure you add the “Waitlist” class to your cart to ensure you are contacted if a spot becomes available. All waiting list requests are dated, time-stamped, and entered accordingly.
Refund Refunds/Changes:
When dropping out of activities after the first class, you will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be given after the 2nd day of class. There will be a $10 change fee for any class changes. No refunds if we remove your student from a class.
Procedure for Removing a Child from the Program: Our Community Schools philosophy is to provide children with safe, optimum learning opportunities. Our expectations for behavior are based on appropriate developmental levels and, when necessary, may culminate in removal of a student from a program.
DISCIPLINE POLICY: Community Schools adheres to the CFSD Student Discipline Matrix. Community Schools reserves the right to exclude a student from a Community Schools activity if it is established that the student has violated any provision outlined in the student discipline policies, rules, and/or regulations. Additionally, Community Schools staff may exercise discretion in removing a student if such action is deemed to be in the best interest of the activity or the school as a whole.
Sign-Out Policy: To ensure the safety of the children in our program, it is mandatory that children be picked up in their classrooms and signed out by a parent following Community Schools classes. Exceptions: Children returning to CARE or going to another Community Schools class. A late pick-up fee of $2.00 per minute will be assessed for any student who is not picked up within five minutes after the end of their class.
Fees for Classes, Athletics, Outdoor Adventures and Field Trips
All fees are due at the time of enrollment, prior to the start of the program. Contact Community Schools for information on payment plans or fee reductions. Fee reductions may be available based on combined family income.
