Catalina Foothills School District’s commitment to 21st Century Learning continues after school with Community Schools’ elementary programs. Afterschool enrichment opportunities include special activities and classes for students on early release days. Afterschool classes and camps extend into the later afternoon hours to broaden lifelong learning options for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Special programs through Community Schools serve as avenues for learning new skills and experiencing meaningful activities during school vacations and weekends.

Early Release -----Tuesdays, 1:30-3:00pm

CHESS 1:35-2:35pm (NOTE ending time) Grades: K-5-- Fee: $63

No prior experience is needed. Chess has been proven to enhance academic achievement and is a skill that will last a lifetime. Instructor, Ken Larsen, is a competitive chess player and instructor.

CRAZY CRITTERS -- Grades: K-5 ---Fee: $130

Get up close with, and learn all about a new group of animals this quarter when Tucson Petting Zoo brings tortoises, rabbits, birds, bugs, etc. Take part in crafts and activities related to learning about these fascinating creatures!

KIDZART -- Grades: K-5 --Fee: $150

A KidzArt certified instructor will guide students through a different project each week. Students will learn how to break projects into simple steps, art terms, and vocabulary, as well as experience and learn techniques for varying drawing mediums. Each week students will bring home a different masterpiece all their own. Our curriculum never repeats!

TGA TENNIS--Grades: 2-5 -- Fee: $205
Serve it up with tennis class and discover how fun and exciting tennis can be with TGA! Coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop fundamental skills of grip, forehand, backhand, volley and serve. Students participate in STEAM labs that allow them to explore academic concepts like gravity, force and spin through the game.

CAPOEIRA -- Grades: K-3 ---Fee: $105

Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art/dance form, improves physical and mental strength, encourages creativity while increasing agility and confidence. Instructor Anne Pollack has trained in Capoeira for over 22 years.

Level up your engineering skills with Play- Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO parts! Apply real world-concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as: Castles, Airplanes, and Scissor Lifts. Design and build as never before and explore your craziest ideas.

ADVANCED ROCKETRY --Grades: 3-5 -- Fee: $135
Advance your rocketry skills with supervised instruction in model building, including the use of wood glue, (non-toxic) plastic cement, scissors, hobby knives, knot tying, spray paint, and decals. You’ll build 2 model rockets kits and fly them up to 8 times. You’ll also receive your own launch pad and controller, a field box to hold your equipment, and the knowledge of how safely build, paint, and fly model rockets! Prior experience in Introductory Rocketry class recommended.

Girls on the Run (GOTR), is a national non-profit school based program that encourages 3rd – 5th grade girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.The program combines training for a 3.1 mile running event with small group discussions and fun, interactive physical activities.  


THURSDAYS at Sunrise Drive Elementary

GOSHINJITSU      Grades: 1-5    4:30-6:00pm     Fee: $110

Goshinjitsu is a practical self-defense art that combines elements of Karate, Judo, and Jujitsu into a simple and effective form of martial arts. Classes emphasize traditional martial arts values and principles. Transportation is NOT provided. This is a semester-long class that will end on 05/15.

YOGA FOR KIDS --- Grades: 2-5---  -Fee: $81
Being playful and silly is a great gateway to introducing yoga to kids. Kids will have space for self-expression, as well as connections to mindfulness and breathing techniques. They will focus on improving flexibility all the while respecting their bodies, themselves and others. Taught by Ms. Lankes.

NINJA WARRIOR CAMP --- Grades: K-3--- -Fee: $130
Get ready for a challenge! This new class will give participants an opportunity to have fun testing their skills and abilities while going through various obstacles: Tunnel crawls, Cone weaves, Noodle crawls, Mat Rolls, Parachute runs and much more. Different course will be set up every day. Who will be Ninja Warrior of the day?

WEDNESDAYS   3:00-4:00

DIY BEADED JEWELRY --- Grades: 1-5-----Fee: $100
Learn how to create and design your own handmade beaded  jewelry.  We will use nylon-coated beading wire, beading elastic, wire, and waxed linen to create necklaces, bracelets, anklets, and hair accessories.   Unwanted and inexpensive jewelry is welcome for donations.

BEAT DROP KIDS --- Grades: K-3---3:00-4:15pm NOTE ENDING TIME ---Fee: $108
Beat Drop Kidz After School Program is a Hip Hop Dance Program that brings the fun of Hip Hop Dance directly into the schools! We teach Hip Hop in a Kid-Friendly & FUN way while teaching the “Code of Hip Hop” of “Peace, Unity, Love & Having Fun”. Students will learn several moves from various Urban Dance styles such as Popping, Break Dancing, Locking & more!

INTRAMURAL TRACK --Grades: 3-5 ---- Fee: $81
Learn the skills and techniques to master this field favorite and fulfill your enthusiasm for physical fitness and sportsmanship. Build team spirit and camaraderie with your teammates. Compete against other CFSD elementary school teams in a District-Wide event. Participants will receive a team shirt.

YOYO --Grades: 2-5 ---- Fee: $81
Come learn hand eye coordination with Build a Skill Yoyo! Students will build their own yo-yos, learn tricks and more. Instructor, Jess Gracia has been teaching yoyo skills to large groups of students for over 15+ years. Students will be taking home two different yo-yos in this class. 

FRIDAYS   3:00-4:00

CREATIVE KIDS--- Grades: K-3-- --Fee: $120
Bring your creativity and imagination and become an artist in this fun class! Students will be working on projects using egg cartons. We will also be using "upcycled" materials, pipe cleaners, glitter, felt, and paint to create our very own creations. Egg carton donations are welcome.
