Catalina Foothills School District’s commitment to 21st Century Learning continues after school with Community Schools’ elementary programs. Afterschool enrichment opportunities include special activities and classes for students on early release days. Afterschool classes and camps extend into the later afternoon hours to broaden lifelong learning options for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Special programs through Community Schools serve as avenues for learning new skills and experiencing meaningful activities during school vacations and weekends.

Art Naturally - Perfect Pets

Grades: 1-5 Fee: $143

Art Naturally enrichment classes are for the curiously creative child. This session we will discover the art and natural history of pets. Dogs were first domesticated by humans 30,000 years ago. Then came horses, cats, birds and rats…. Art lessons include a variety of materials including acrylic paints, watercolors, clay, oil pastels and more.

Chess - 1:30-2:35 (note ending time)

Grades K-5 Fee: $65

Open to all ability levels, no prior experience necessary. Chess has been proven to enhance academic achievement and is a skill that will last a lifetime. Opportunities for optional weekend tournaments. Instructor, Ken Larsen, is a competitive chess player and instructor. has led CFSD students to victories at local, state and national tournaments.

Crazy Critters

Grades K-5  Fee: $100

Get up close with, and learn all about a new group of animals this quarter when Tucson Petting Zoo brings tortoises, rabbits, birds, bugs, etc. Take part in crafts and activities related to learning about these fascinating creatures!

TGA Golf

Grades K-5 Fee: $146

Tee it up this fall with Teach, Grow, Achieve (TGA), a national after-school sports enrichment program. TGA's five-level program brings the golf course to you. Have fun learning the techniques of golf! Great for beginners as well as experienced golfers.

TGA Tennis

Grades K-5 Fee: $146

Serve it up with tennis class and discover how fun and exciting tennis can be with TGA! Coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop the fundamental skills of grip, forehand, backhand, volley, and serve.

YoYo Skils   

Grades 2-5    Fee: $107

Join Mr. Jess as he teaches the art of yo-yo and other skill toys including Jacks and Marbles! First time students will receive their very own high-quality Proyo yo-yo that they will build. They will also learn all safety and maintenance related information as well as some pretty cool yo-yo tricks! Returning students will receive another more advanced yo-yo for each quarter they return.

Arte Bella - Fridays  Grades 1-5    Fee: $160

We love to give the opportunity to students of all ages to get creative and bring out their inner artist! Even if you only know how to draw a stick figure, we will teach you step by step to create a masterpiece that you'd be proud of and also grow as an artist, gaining experience.

Capoeira Mandinga - Thursdays, 3:00-4:00  Grades 1-5    Fee: $90

Learn the flowing, beautiful Afro-Brazilian martial art Capoeira with Capoeira Mandinga Tucson. Students will learn kicks, escapes, and fluid moves that build mind and body strength, flexibility, and agility. Students also learn music that drives the energy of the Capoeira game. Capoeira increases balance, creativity, and confidence. Teachers Anne Pollack and Aidan Miller-Wells were honored with a 2019 Southwest Folklife Alliance Award. Aidan has trained capoeira over 12 years. Anne is the only master of Capoeira and Afro-Brazilian arts in the State of Arizona.

Cooking with Ms. Jean - Wednesdays, 3:00-4:30  Grades: K-5    Fee: $125

Students will learn to use fun kitchen gadgets like an instant pot, waffle iron, indoor grill and air fryer to create creatively delicious food! They will then add their newly learned recipes to cookbooks so they can show off their new skills at home.

Creative Drama with Drama Kids - Fridays    Grades K-5    Fee: $140

Students will develop public speaking and leadership skills, while building confidence, and learning how to think quickly, creatively, and appropriately. All of this is done through our fun and energetic theater based curriculum. Students will participate in various activities including scene building, creative movement, short plays, and theater games. There are never any auditions and ALL students have the chance to shine!

KidzArt - Thursdays 3:00-4:00pm    Grades K-5    Fee: $183

A KidzArt certified instructor that will guide students through a different project each week. Students will learn how to break projects into simple steps, art terms and vocabulary, as well as experience and learn techniques for varying drawing mediums. Each week students will bring home a different masterpiece all their own. Our curriculum never repeats!

PlayWell Legos Minecraft Engineering - Mondays   Grades 3-5    Fee: $193

Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO® parts! Build an Iron Golem, the Nether Portal, and the Ender Dragon. Students will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects.

PlayWell Legos Minecraft Engineering - Mondays   Grades K-2    Fee: $193

Minecraft Engineering with LEGO® Materials Bring Minecraft to life using tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as a Creeper, a Lava Trap, and a Minecart. Create your favorite Minecraft mobs, tools, and objects with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor.

TGA Floor Hockey - Wednesdays     Grades K-5 Fee: $205

Take your best shot and discover how fun and exciting playing floor hockey can be with TGA! This modified version of ice hockey can be played in regular shoes on virtually any hard surface with a small ball and hockey sticks.

Shyhawks Basketball- Thursdays    Grades 3-5    Fee: $150

Basketball will focus the whole player, we teach your child the skills they need for both on and off the court to be a better athlete. Our sport specific staff will focus on respect, teamwork and responsibility as they will start each day with a 'skill of the day' and progress in to drills and games. After a working on passing, shooting, dribbling and rebounding you will see future basketball players.

Shyhawks Ninja Warrior - Mondays    Grades K-5    Fee: $225

AGILITY/CROSSFIT/NINJA CLASSES! Skyhawks Sports Academy teaches young athletes the essential skills needed to perform a multitude of exercises. Each student learns proper body positioning, hand/arm/leg movements and jumping techniques. We offer children a positive sports experience while promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.

Shyhawks Soccer, Baseball, Track & Field - Wednesdays    Grades K-2    Fee: $175

This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. The essentials of baseball, track and field and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun. Our Mini-Hawk games and activities were designed to allow campers to explore balance, movement, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace. Skyhawks staff are trained to handle the specific needs of young athletes.

Young Rembrandts - Anime - Mondays    Grades 3-5    Fee: $257

Students will create dazzling illustrations that are influenced by popular Japanese anime and manga
themes. Colorful characters with expressive personalities jump off the page. Students will also learn to create a storyboard around their characters. Don’t miss out on an exciting opportunity to produce wonderful artwork and storytelling! Young Rembrandts provides all the necessary supplies for each class.
