Community Schools’ elementary programs. Afterschool enrichment opportunities include special activities and classes for students on early release days. Afterschool classes and camps extend into the later afternoon hours to broaden lifelong learning options for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Special programs through Community Schools serve as avenues for learning new skills and experiencing meaningful activities during school vacations and weekends.

3-D Perler Beads- Fridays (9 weeks) Grades 2-5 Fee: $135 3D Disney characters, a pokeball, a jewelry box, and a toucan are just some of the MANY things that can be made out of perler beads! In this class children will choose the 3D design of their choice to work on weekly utilizing patterns, their patients and creativity to create something extraordinary! The 3D perler bead patterns work like a 3D puzzle with each side of the structure designed to fit within each other. What will you make? The possibilities are endless! This is a process project class and most 3D projects will take multiple classes to complete Ansty Nancy Gardening Fun and Crafts - Mondays (9 weeks) Grades K-2 Fee: $322 Calling all green thumbs, tree huggers, nature lovers, and fairy enthusiasts! Our classes will be fact and action packed. With desert gardening top of mind, we have multiple hands-on projects focused on creating a beautiful garden. Classes include Succulent Planters, Custom Garden Apron/Tool belts, Indoor Herb Gardens, Fairy Gardens, Teacup Bird feeders, Hand Painted Garden Bugs, Planter Transformation, and Spring Flower Bulb Planting. Art Naturally: Nature Hide And Seek - Fridays (9 weeks) Grades 1-5 Fee: $200 Who's hiding in that hole? What's moving beyond the bush? Nature is full of hide and seek. In this session we will learn what's hiding and create all new fun projects with this theme. Each week we will use different materials including clay, watercolors, oil pastels, mixed media and more. Come create and play! Challenger Sports: Soccer - Tuesdays (11 weeks) Grades K-2 Fee: $236 Challenger Soccer Academy will focus on introducing and developing each player’s soccer skills as their International coaches follow an innovative curriculum. Players will develop their soccer skills in a relaxed and fun environment. Each week will focus on a particular soccer skill and progressively will be more challenging, allowing each player to succeed and improve. Fun with Flight - Mondays (9 weeks) Grades 3-5 Fee: $244 Join Bob Ray of Why Things Fly for a fun, fascinating foray into the world of flight. Students will be taught the basics of flight (why things fly) and engage in activities, building…you guessed it, things that fly! Kites, tumble wings, and gliders just to name a few. We all have an innate fascination with flight. This program will leave the students wanting to do projects on their own at home! Little Library Book Club - Wednesday (11 weeks) Grades 3-5 Fee: $165 Join Ms. Ashley to fall in love with reading while you travel together in a book through discussion and activities. In this class you will work together to create a Little Library for the Sunrise Drive students! You will then take a field trip to Bookman's to pick books for the Sunrise Drive Little Library! SD Hiking Club - Tuesday (3 weeks) Grades 3-5 Fee: $45 Come discover the beauty of our unique and curious Arizona environment with Mary Grodman from Community Schools Outdoors. Learn outdoor skills that you can utilize at any level! We will discuss Leave No Trace principles, the hiking ten essentials, outdoor etiquette and more. We will finish our short session with a hike on a local trail to experience the outdoors with our new knowledge. Transportation will be provided on the last day. This is a 3-week class! *Tuesdays, 1/17 & 1/24 3:00-4:30pm and on 1/31 from 3:00-5:00pm Sing and Dance: Forming the Character of Child Development Through Music - Mondays (9 weeks) Grades: 3-5 Fee: $108 Students will explore the basics of music, as well as, singing, dancing, performing with Ms. Zhao from Sunrise Drive. Student will be developing their music mentality through playing instruments, practicing variety of rhythm and listening to various examples of music from around the world, including musical theater. TGA Cheer - Monday,s (9 weeks) Grades: K-5 Fee: $264 Discover how fun and exciting cheerleading can be! Coaches will lead students through drill and activities to build their skills in tumbling, stunting, choreography, motions, jumps and performance. Students will also partake in labs to explore concepts like gravity, balance and aerodynamics in cheerleading. TGA Flag Football - Wednesdays (11 weeks) Grades: K-2 Fee: $322 Kick it off with this modified version of America’s game that makes it fun and exciting to play with TGA! There is a strict no-contact rule to maintain all player’s safety. Coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop the fundamental skills of passing, catching, running, and defending. Students participate in STEAM labs that allow them to explore academic concepts like gravity, compression, and aerodynamics through the game. TGA Volleyball - Wednesday (11 weeks) Grades 3-5 Fee: $322 Serve it up with volleyball class and discover how fun and exciting volleyball can be with TGA! Coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop the fundamental skills of passing, setting, serving, spiking, and blocking. TRAK - Tuesday 3:00 - 4:00pm (11 weeks) Grades K-2 Fee: $283 How far can a rabbit hop? Why does a pig roll in the mud? How can you tell if a horse is happy? What does it mean to be a predator or prey animal? These questions and many others will be answered in our Animal Friends hands-on program. Children will learn a variety of information ranging from the diet and required care for some ranch animals to behaviors and interesting facts. The TRAK animal family enjoys traveling to schools and being a part of this educational and fun experience. CHESS - Semester Class, January 3 - May 19 TUESDAY’S 3:00 - 4:00pm or 4:00 - 5:00pm Instructional Chess - Tuesday: 3:00 - 4:00pm Grades K-5 Fee: $228 No prior experience is needed. Chess has been proven to enhance academic achievement and is a skill that will last. SEMESTER LONG CLASS ENDS 5/19 Tournament Chess - Tuesday: 4:00 - 5:00pm Grades K-5 Fee: $228 For the chess player who is interested in building skills in tournament play. Students build strategy and play games. Opportunities for optional weekend tournaments. Taught by instructor Ken Larsen. SEMESTER CLASS LONG ENDS 5/19
