Community Schools’ elementary programs. Afterschool enrichment opportunities include special activities and classes for students on early release days. Afterschool classes and camps extend into the later afternoon hours to broaden lifelong learning options for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Special programs through Community Schools serve as avenues for learning new skills and experiencing meaningful activities during school vacations and weekends.

A - Zoo      Grades 3-5      Fee: $160

Geckos, lizards, and frogs, OH MY! We will learn all about the characteristics of reptiles and amphibians and what makes these animals unique in our hands on class. Yes, you will get to hold some of them! We will talk about warm and cold blooded animals, invertebrates and vertebrates, skin types, and so much more!   Investigate their habitats, diets, and how to care for them at home.  Turn your fear of snakes  into "snakes are fascinating " as you discover how some of these animals can make excellent pets!

Airplane Flight and Design       Grades 3-5     Fee: $243

Students will learn the basic principles of flight and flight control systems, as well as, building their own balsa wood gliders from scratch.

Code Ninjas: Adventures in Game Design      Grades 3-5      Fee: $286

Instead of just playing games, how would you like to code your own? Learn how to build games using the characters you love and the coding skills you will gain throughout the class. You even get to choose your own themes and worlds.

Crazy Critters       Grades: K-2      Fee: $149

Get up close with and learn all about a new group of animals this quarter when Tucson Petting Zoo brings tortoises, rabbits, birds, bugs, oh my! Take part in crafts and activities related to learning about these fascinating creatures!

PlayWell Legos - Pokemon Engineering   Grades: K-2     Fee: $189

Calling all Pokémon trainers! With the Pokémon Championship approaching, join our enthusiastic Play-Well Instructors as we build and catch our favorite Pokémon, rescue Pikachu from Team Rocket, take a ride on the S.S. Anne to uncover rare and mystic Pokémon, and battle to see who will hold the title of Pokémon Master. Come along on our journey to catch 'em all!!

Polymer Clay Creations with Lucky Cat Art Social      Grades K-5     Fee: $229

Learn how to work with polymer clay through basic to intermediate techniques. A fun, step by step project will be taught each class.

Art Naturally: Gone But Not Forgotten - Monday     Grades 1-5       Fee: $229

Let's explore some of the coolest animals that once inhabited the earth. The saber-toothed tiger, megalodon, and dodo bird will be some of the animals we will be creating using a variety of art supplies and techniques. Each week we will focus on a different animal from another time.

Drama Kids: Creative Dramatics - Tuesday 3:00 - 4:00pm       Grades K-5    Fee: $137

This developmental drama class will include a wide range of creative activities that promote leadership, collaboration and communication skills. Build a foundation of acting skills such as projection, articulation, dramatic movement, & improvisation. Use these skills and grow your self confidence to build scenes, develop characters, and work on short plays each week.

Fun with Flight - Monday     Grades 2-5      Fee: $218

Join Bob Ray of Why Things Fly for a fun, fascinating foray into the world of flight. Students will be taught the basics of flight (why things fly) and engage in activities, building…you guessed it, things that fly! Kites, tumble wings, and gliders just to name a few. We all have an innate fascination with flight. This program will leave the students wanting to do projects on their own at home!

Gardening Club - Monday      Grades 3-5     Fee: $109

Do you enjoy spending time outdoors? Or maybe you like to play in the dirt and watch butterfly’s fly by! If you want to learn about nature while having fun in the garden join the after school gardening club! This class offers an outdoor interactive classroom which enriches students with powerful hands-on experiences as they learn about the plant life cycle, digging in the dirt, maintaining plant health, and see the outcome of supporting our environment and the creatures that rely on it. Students will get to plant seeds, become members of the garden pledge, create garden journals to observe weather patterns and plant growth, and all while getting to learn about the ecological connections that make up our earth! Gloves and tools are provided. Permission to get a little dirty through maintenance of garden necessary!

TGA Cheer- Monday   Grades: K-5      Fee: $234      

Discover how fun and exciting cheerleading can be! Coaches will lead students through drill and activities to build their skills in tumbling, stunting, choreography, motions, jumps and performance. Students will also partake in labs to explore concepts like gravity, balance and aerodynamics in cheerleading

TGA Floor Hockey- Wednesday   Grades: K-2      Fee: $234      

Take your best shot and discover how fun and exciting playing floor hockey can be with TGA!  This modified version of ice hockey can be played in regular shoes on virtually any hard surface with a small ball and hockey sticks!

TGA Volleyball - Wednesday      Grades 3-5      Fee: $234

Serve it up with volleyball class and discover how fun and exciting volleyball can be with TGA! Coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop the fundamental skills of passing, setting, serving, spiking, and blocking.

Webby Dance Class - Wednesday      Grades 3-5      Fee: $236

                                              - Tuesday, 3:00-4:00pm      Grades: K-2      Fee: $236

Dancers are introduced to the fundamentals of tap, jazz, and hip hop while building body awareness and self-confidence! Our classes will build on basic jazz fundamentals using individual instruction, weekly strengthening exercises, across the floor techniques and choreographed routines. Music selections include age-appropriate hip hop, 50's, calypso & much more! Each week our instructors bring new thematic class plans with engaging props.

CHESS - Semester Class, January 3 - May 19

TUESDAY’S 3:00 - 4:00pm  or 4:00 - 5:00pm

Instructional Chess - Tuesday: 3:00 - 4:00pm      Grades K-5    Fee: $228

No prior experience is needed. Chess has been proven to enhance academic achievement and is a skill that will last. SEMESTER LONG CLASS ENDS 5/19

Tournament Chess - Tuesday: 4:00 - 5:00pm      Grades K-5     Fee: $228

Spaces open at $96 for Q4

For the chess player who is interested in building skills in tournament play. Students build strategy and play games. Opportunities for optional weekend tournaments. Taught by instructor Ken Larsen. SEMESTER CLASS LONG ENDS 5/19
