Catalina Foothills School District’s commitment to 21st Century Learning continues after school with Community Schools’ elementary programs. Afterschool enrichment opportunities include special activities and classes for students on early release days. Afterschool classes and camps extend into the later afternoon hours to broaden lifelong learning options for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Special programs through Community Schools serve as avenues for learning new skills and experiencing meaningful activities during school vacations and weekends. |
After School 3:00-4:30pm unless notedCHESS Actor’s Workshop By: KidStage - Tuesday Grades 1-5 3:00 - 4:00pm Fee: $180.00 Our fast-moving and fun workshop will have your kids exploring the many facets of theater through fun, thought-provoking and stimulating theater games and activities! The participants will meet with our Instructor for an hour of jam-packed fun after-school. By participating, students can strengthen and build: · Teamwork, Leadership, and Peer Relationship skills · Concentration, Memorization, and Problem Solving skills · Creativity and Imagination · Body Awareness and Control · Self-Confidence, Self-Esteem and Poise The first 6 weeks will focus on characterization, stage terminology and direction, and optimum acting and voice technique. Kids will perform in class for their peers on the 7th week. They will perform popular scenes from plays like Aladdin, The Lion King, Moana, Mulan, Hercules, Peter Pan and others. The last 2 weeks will be focused on Improv and teaching the actors to think on their feet and react to their peers on stage. No acting or theater experience is necessary and first-time students are encouraged to attend. This program is designed for 1st-5th grades. THIS CLASS IS AN HOUR LONG Art Naturally: Wonders of the World - Monday Grades 1-5 Fee: $257 We will explore and create some of the exciting wonders in nature. Discover the Great Barrier Reef and the Redwood forests. Recreate the Aurora Borealis in all its amazing colors and the intensity of mighty volcanoes. Art lessons feature many different materials, including clay, watercolors, mixed media, pastels and acrylic paints. PlayWell Legos - Pokemon Engineering - Tuesdays Grades: K-5 Fee: $215 Calling all Pokémon trainers! With the Pokémon Championship approaching, join our enthusiastic Play-Well Instructors as we build and catch our favorite Pokémon, rescue Pikachu from Team Rocket, take a ride on the S.S. Anne to uncover rare and mystic Pokémon, and battle to see who will hold the title of Pokémon Master. Come along on our journey to catch 'em all!! THIS CLASS IS AN HOUR LONG Skyhawk - Track and Field. Mondays Grades: K-5 Fee: $225 AGILITY/CROSSFIT/NINJA CLASSES! Skyhawks Sports Academy teaches young athletes the essential skills needed to perform a multitude of exercises. Each student learns proper body positioning, hand/arm/leg movements and jumping techniques. We offer children a positive sports experience while promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. TGA Golf - Wednesdays Grades: K-5 Fee: $264 Tee it up with Teach, Grow, Achieve (TGA), a national after-school sports enrichment program. TGA's five-level program brings the golf course to you. Have fun learning the techniques of golf! Great for beginners as well as experienced golfers. TGA Tennis - Wednesdays Grades: 2-5 Fee: $264 Serve it up with tennis class and discover how fun and exciting tennis can be with TGA! Coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop the fundamental skills of grip, forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. The Art of Cartooning - Wednesday Grades 2-5 Fee: $195.00 Learn the art of cartoon drawing from artist Jason Zucker! Jason is currently employed in Florida as an artist by the one and only Mickey Mouse! He has also completed and is working on publishing his first children's book as well developing a children's art related cartoon series! Join Jason to learn how to draw your favorite cartoon characters and as well as learning how to turn yourself into one! This class is done virtually. There will be a Community Schools employee in the room with the children for the duration of the class. |
