School Break Opportunities

Registration Opens for Rodeo Break on Monday, February 3 at 8:00am - https://cs.cfsd16.org 
Register through February 12.

  • Late fee will applied after February 12.
  • Refund or cancelation requested by February 17 will incur a $10 fee.
  • No refunds after February 17.

RODEO BREAK

Thursday, February 20 and Friday, February 21     9:00am - 4:30pm

Trips will depart and arrive at Sunrise Drive Elementary. Transportation for students enrolled in CARE will be provided to and from the field trip departure site. 

 Thursday - Peter Piper Pizza and Desert Museum      Fee: $60

In the morning students will head out to Peter Piper Pizza to get a behind the slice pizza tour where everyone will get to create their own pizza. Once we finish our pizza masterpieces we will head out to Desert Museum for a personal tour. Please make sure to bring water, hat and walking shoes.

Friday - Top Golf and Movies      Fee: $60

Start the day at the driving range with a session at Top Golf. Practice your golfing skills while enjoying a prepaid lunch of Chicken Bites, Mini Hot Dogs, Jr. Cheeseburger, Grilled Cheese or a Breakfast Plate. After a fun morning of golf, we will head to the movies to relax and watch tthe latest kid-friendly flick. Please bring $10 if you wish to purchase a kids' snack pack at the theatre.

RODEO BREAK OUTDOORS

Thursday Survival Skills and Urban Fishing      Fee: $75
Grades: 2-5

Come spend the day with Community Schools Outdoors! We will start the day off at Canyon View Elementary where we will learn how to make survival bracelets and the different ways they can be extremely handy in the outdoors. After our morning survival skills session we will head to Silverball Lake for some urban fishing! We will discuss native and non-native fish as we learn how to bait and cast. Then, test our patience trying to catch a few! Please pack a lunch and water bottle.​​​​​​

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Hiker dudes representing difficulty level of 3   Less than 3 miles and 500ft. elevation change.  Low physical exertion.  Suitable for Beginners.  No flat soled shoes permitted.

 

Friday - Sabino Canyon's Seven Falls Hike     Fee: $85

Ready to find an oasis in the desert? We will begin our search for a set of waterfalls and large pools by hopping on a Sabino Canyon tram to take us to the Seven Falls trailhead. Once we arrive at the trailhead, we will make our way through Bear Canyon where we will be surrounded by the beautiful desert landscape in search of the beautiful cascading waterfalls. Once we reach our destination, we will have lunch and explore our surroundings before heading back down the Canyon. Make sure to bring a packed lunch, at least 2 liters of water, sunscreen and hat! Wear shoes with good tread for our hike.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Hiker dudes representing difficulty level of 3   4-6 miles, 700ft+ elevation change. Moderate physical exertion sustained for longer periods of time. Supportive soled shoes required. No flat soled shoes permitted. Suitable for those with beginning to moderate outdoor experiences.
