This week, Manzanita PE teacher Mr. Jesús Campa invited parents to step into their child’s running shoes—literally—and more than 260 family members rose to the challenge! In these photos, you’ll see fourth and fifth graders, along with their parents and other family members, diving into a full PE lesson filled with movement, laughter, and teamwork. (Parents of all grade levels had the chance to participate throughout the week.)The lesson’s focus was Individual Jump Rope, but parents quickly discovered they were in for the full workout experience. The warm-up kicked off with a fast-paced reaction game with pool noodles.

Next was the ever-popular Jackpot Fitness, where each “bill” collected came with a challenge: squats, mountain climbers, lunges, and more. Teams cashed in their efforts with a tally of "winnings" at the end, adding a fun, competitive twist, and some math to boot!

Families then turned their attention to jump rope, testing endurance with two-minute challenges to see if they could outlast their previous scores, building both perseverance and a little friendly bragging rights.

The finale? A spirited round of Gaga Ball, complete with exciting “jailbreaks” that had everyone cheering.

PE with Parents was a huge hit—blending fitness, fun, and family connection. Mr. Campa’s creative lesson design gave parents a firsthand look at the skills, routines, and teamwork their children practice each week, proving that learning in PE is as joyful as it is challenging.

Thank you to all of our family members who joined us for this great learning (and bonding) experience.
