  • 2019 3rd Quarter Registration and Winter Break Opportunities opens Thursday, December 5th at 8:00am
  • Attention Parents: After School Intramural Coaches Needed
    We are currently looking for after school intramural coaches at Canyon View for 3rd and 4th quarter. We will be offering track and kickball for the students in grades 3-5. At the end of each quarter, student will compete against other CFSD elementary schools in a District-Wide event. If you are interested and would like to coach the CV team apply online at https://www.cfsd16.org and/or contact Marissa Montagnani at 209-7719 for more information.
  • We are currently looking for after school volunteers at Canyon View from January 21st through April 25th for an hour and half class session a week. We will be offering Girls on the Run for girls in grade 3rd through 5th. Catalina Foothills School District’s commitment to 21st Century Learning continues after school with Community Schools’ elementary programs. Afterschool enrichment opportunities include special activities and classes for students on early release days. Afterschool classes and camps extend into the later afternoon hours to broaden lifelong learning options for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Special programs through Community Schools serve as avenues for learning new skills and experiencing meaningful activities during school vacations and weekends.

Early Release ---Mondays,1:30-3:00pm 

CHESS---Grades: K-5 ---Fee: $63--- NOTE: Class ends at 2:35
No prior experience is necessary. Instruction begins at the child’s entry level. Chess has been proven to enhance academic achievement and is a skill that will last a lifetime. Optional participation in weekend league tournaments will be discussed in chess meetings. Instructor, Ken Larsen, is a competitive chess player and instructor. He has led CFSD students to local, state and national tournaments.

CRAZY CRITTERS--Grades: K-5-- Fee: $130
Get up close with, and learn all about a new group of animals this quarter when Tucson Petting Zoo brings tortoises, rabbits, birds, bugs, etc. Take part in crafts and activities related to learning about these fascinating creatures!

KIDZART: --Grades: K-5 -- Fee: $150
A KidzArt certified instructor will guide students through a different project each week. Students will learn how to break projects into simple steps, art terms and vocabulary, as well as experience and learn techniques for varying drawing mediums. Each week students will bring home a different masterpiece of their own. Our curriculum never repeats!

PLAY-WELL STEM FUNDAMENTALS-Grades: K-5 -- Fee: $130
Level up your engineering skills with Play- Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO parts! Apply real world-concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as: Castles, Airplanes, and Scissor Lifts. Design and build as never before and explore your craziest ideas.

ADVANCED MODEL ROCKETRY--Grades: 3-5-- Fee: $135
Advance your rocketry skills with supervised instruction in model building, including the use of wood glue, (non-toxic) plastic cement, scissors, hobby knives, knot tying, spray paint, and decals. You’ll build 2 model rockets kits and fly them up to 8 times. You’ll also receive your own launch pad and controller, a field box to hold your equipment, and the knowledge of how safely build, paint, and fly model rockets! Prior experience in Introductory Rocketry class recommended. 

GIRLS ON THE RUN: --Grades: 3-5 -- Fee: $100 
Girls on the Run (GOTR), is a national non-profit school based program that encourages 3rd – 5th grade girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.The program combines training for a 3.1 mile running event with small group discussions and fun, interactive physical activities.

 

After School 3:00-4:00 

BEAT DROP KIDZ --Tuesdays, ends at 4:15 --Grades: K-3 --Fee: $108
Beat Drop Kidz After School Program is a Hip Hop Dance Program that brings the fun of Hip Hop Dance directly into the schools! We teach Hip Hop in a Kid-Friendly & FUN way while teaching the “Code of Hip Hop” of “Peace, Unity, Love & Having Fun”. Students will learn several moves from various Urban Dance styles such as Popping, Break Dancing, Locking & more!

YOYO --Tuesdays --Grades: 2-5 --Fee: $93
Come learn hand eye coordination with Build a Skill Yoyo! Students will build their own yo-yos, learn tricks and more. Instructor, Jess Gracia has been teaching yoyo skills to large groups of students for over 15+ years. Students will be taking home two different yo-yos in this class. **There will be no class on January 21st.** 

FLOOR HOCKEY --Wednesdays --Grades: K-5 --Fee: $205
Take your best shot and discover and exciting playing floor hockey can be with TGA! Our programs maximize the fun by including an exciting mix of instruction, drills, and games to develop the fundamental floor hockey skills of dribbling, passing, shooting, defending, and goal keeping. This modified version of ice hockey can be played in regular shoes on virtually any hard surface with a small ball and hockey sticks. 

NINJA WARRIOR CAMP --Thursdays --Grades: K-3 --Fee: $130
Get ready for a challenge! This new class will give participants an opportunity to have fun testing their skills and abilities while going through various obstacles: Tunnel crawls Cone weaves, Noodle crawls, Mat Rolls, Parachute runs and much more. Different course will be set up every day. Who will be Ninja Warrior of the day?

STEEL DRUMS --- Grade 5 ---Thursdays---Fee: $81
This group is open to any 5th grade student with little or no experience playing steel drums. Students will learn to read and perform music for the steel drums and the culture surrounding steel drum music. Students will be expected to regularly attend rehearsals, scheduled performances and help move equipment when necessary. Student's fees cover a t-shirt, mallets, music and music binder.

INTRAMURAL TRACK--Fridays --Grades: 3-5 --Fee: $72
Learn the skills and techniques to master this field favorite and fulfill your enthusiasm for physical fitness and sportsmanship. Build team spirit and camaraderie with your teammates. Compete against other CFSD elementary school teams in a District-Wide event. Participants will receive a team shirt.

WINTER BREAK

Drop off and pick-up at Sunrise Drive Elementary      9:00am - 4:00pm     Grades K-5th

Monday, December 30 - Movies and Bowling at Bowlero      $60
We will start our day by heading to watch the latest flick! We will then head to our favorite bowling alley, Bowlero, for strikes, spares, arcade games, and a pizza lunch.  Please remember to bring socks. 

Thursday January 2 - Zoo and Crazy Critters      $55
Lions, tigers, and bears oh my! Come with as we venture to Reid Park Zoo to see animals from all over the world. We will meet with zoo staff as they take us behind the scenes and up close with some of their favorite critters. Explore the interactive elephant park, conservation learning center, and ride the train! Please make sure to pack a lunch and water bottle. We will then get up close with and learn all about a group of animals brought to us by Tucson Petting Zoo. Students will be able to take part in crafts and activities related to learning about these fascinating creatures! Please bring a packed lunch. 

Friday January 3 - Color Me Mine and Arts and Crafts       $55
Come have an artistic day! We will start our creative day at Color Me Mine where students will have the opportunity to paint a bowl or a plate. We will then head back to Sunrise to have more arts & crafts fun! Please bring a packed lunch.
